Minister Nzimande to Launch Locally Developed Clean Energy Technology at Sasol to Close National Science Month

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Blade Nzimande, will officially close National Science Month by launching a groundbreaking 2KW local laboratory-scale Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser facility at Sasol in Sasolburg.
Developed using publicly funded South African intellectual property, this facility stands as a testament to strategic collaboration.
It brings together the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), the HySA Infrastructure Centre of Competence at North-West University, the South African National Energy Development Institute, and Sasol.
The lab-scale electrolyser will serve as a critical research platform to evaluate clean energy technologies under real South African weather and renewable energy conditions.
Ultimately, this milestone supports the country's transition to a green economy by driving down carbon emissions and stimulating domestic job growth.
