Deputy Minister Gina to outline SA's e-mobility vision
The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Nomalungelo Gina, will on Wednesday, 26 August, address the uYilo e-Mobility Summit 2026, South Africa's premier platform dedicated to advancing electric mobility and sustainable transport solutions.
Hosted annually at Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha, this year the event is themed: "Accelerating Electric Mobility Implementation in South Africa: From Innovation to Industrial Participation".
As South Africa faces growing urbanisation, energy transition imperatives, and the urgent need for climate-smart solutions, e-mobility stands at the forefront of redefining transportation systems across the region.
Thus, the event will highlight the strategic role of science, technology and innovation in supporting a sustainable and inclusive energy transition, particularly as South Africa advances its green industrialisation agenda.
The Summit will feature industry and government speakers, panel discussions, and an exhibition of the latest electric vehicles, including electric minibuses, with discussions focusing on critical minerals beneficiation and opportunities to build local manufacturing capabilities that support economic growth and job creation, among others.
