Industry Innovation Partnership Workshop(04 July 2013,Casa Toscana Lodge Lynnwood Manor )
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is encouraging Industry Innovation Partnerships as part of a broader government effort to support industry competitiveness.
The main objective is to create an environment where government can effectively partner with industry and support co-investments in research, development and innovation (RDI) in key strategic sectors of the economy.
The requirement for structured innovation partnerships is premised on the need to stimulate increased co-funding and participation by industry players in RDI. The key focus will be on improving competitiveness of strategic sectors of the South African (SA) economy, addressing local needs but with increased export market share in mind where applicable.
Interested industry associations or formations representing various economic sectors or sub-sectors are invited to submit partnership proposals to create and manage Sector-specific Innovation Funds (SIF).

Interested potential partners are invited to attend an important pre-application workshop to be held on 04 July 2013, where details about the management, governance and operations of the Sector-specific Innovation Funds as well as the application process will be presented and discussed. In addition, two of the existing sector innovation programmes supported by the DST, namely, the Post Harvest Innovation (PHI) Programme and the South African Minerals to Metals Research Institute (SAMMRI) initiatives will share their experiences with workshop participants in order to support the application process. The venue, time and agenda of the workshop will be published on the DST website.
Closing date: Friday, 16 August 2013 at 15h00. No late submissions will be accepted.
