Youth in Limpopo to showcase outstanding tech driven innovation skills
The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Nomalungelo Gina, will deliver the keynote address at a prize‑giving ceremony in Mokopane on Wednesday, 1 April, marking a key milestone in a transformative youth innovation programme in Limpopo.
Hosted by Nka’Thuto EduPropeller and supported by the Department of Sicence, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) and Ponahalo DeBeers Trust, the event will celebrate 22 high school learners from across Limpopo who successfully completed Nka’Thuto’s EduPropeller Techno‑Preneurship Bootcamp. Nka’Thuto EduPropeller is a non‑profit organisation focused on equipping learners with critical skills in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology.
The prize-giving ceremony is a culmination of a year-long journey of innovation, learning, and growth, during which the learners developed and presented technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges affecting their communities.
The learners worked collaboratively in teams to develop solutions to challenges that are prominent in their communities and elsewhere in the country, showing the power of data and technology to address development challenges.
Since its establishment in 2017, the Nka’Thuto EduPropeller programme has expanded access to STEAMI opportunities for over 100 000 learners nationwide, with a deliberate focus on under‑resourced communities.
The event will spotlight emerging innovation talent in the province and reinforce the message that excellence exists across all communities, even where opportunity has historically been limited.
