South Africa, Tanzania strengthen collaboration in science, technology
The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Nomalungelo Gina, is hosting Tanzania’s Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Wanu Hafidh, in Cape Town today, for a courtesy meeting to strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.
Discussions will focus on advancing partnerships in research, innovation, science diplomacy, student and researcher mobility, and institutional collaboration.
The meeting will also reaffirm the longstanding historical ties between South Africa and Tanzania, as well as a shared commitment to advancing the African innovation agenda through initiatives such as the Innovation Agencies Initiative for Africa and the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA 2034).
The bilateral cooperation between the Tanzanian Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation in 2011. Since then, both countries have jointly implemented a number of in research projects in areas such as health, agriculture, manufacturing and ICT, among others.
