Spotlight on science and technology to accelerate service delivery
The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) will launch the Technologies for Service Delivery (T4SD) platform on 13 August 2025. This is an innovative online platform aimed at improving human settlements and basic service delivery in South Africa. It includes a database of technology solutions that have potential for widespread adoption and improving access to quality basic services in water and sanitation, waste management, renewable energy, construction and human settlements. Other features are a range of online support tools to assist users in making well-informed decisions to select appropriate technologies, and a portal to similar websites and databases of technologies that might be useful for your specific needs.
Implemented by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, T4SD was developed in support of the Viability and Validation of Innovations for Service Delivery Programme, a DSTI initiative designed to demonstrate technologies that can improve the delivery of basic services in municipalities.
The launch will give technology developers, suppliers, potential users and decision makers, such as municipal, provincial and national government officials, an opportunity to learn more about the platform's features and benefits.
