Invitation to attend a panel session on African Climate Variability as a test for Climate site2016 Models

Projections of future climate site2016 are sometimes being criticized as not being verifiable.  This notion is different for short-range weather forecasting and seasonal forecasting, where the forecasts can be readily verified and tested against observations.

To what extent can climate models’ ability to simulate natural climate variability, and presentday feedbacks and teleconnections within the climate system, be used as a test bed for their ability to simulate future climate site2016?  Does our understanding of climate variability hold for future climate site2016?  And how reliable are model projections of future climate site2016?  These questions will be answered within the context of future climate site2016 over the African continent here today.
