On 28 November 2018, Science and Technology Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane made a presentation to law makers on the implications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution at the 2018 Legacy Summit currently under way at Parliament's Good Hope Chambers.

Hosted by the Speakers' Forum under the auspices of the South African Legislative Sector, the major focus of the 2018 Legacy Summit is the discussion and review of developments in the legislative sector over the past five years (5th parliamentary term). It will advise on future direction, considering country, continental and global development strategies in the context of the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Minister Kubayi-Ngubane gave a perspective on the topic "The Fourth Industrial Revolution – Implications for Parliament and Provincial Legislatures".  The presentation seeks to raise awareness of South Africa's readiness for Industry 4.0, as well as the role of Parliament and provincial legislatures in the policy space.

The summit, a strategic engagement between legislative and other key role players, will identify priorities to recommend to the leadership of the 6th democratic administration in Parliament.

Issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
