Background and objective of event:

Following the successful hosting of the SMART Village International conference in February 2025, whose objective was to create a platform for dialogue between different interest groups ranging from communities to policymakers and other stakeholders, the department will be hosting a summit to reflect on the conference's recommendations. Importantly, this summit will engage the key role players in this multidisciplinary project and identify roles and responsibilities, including the modalities in ensuring that the SMART village responds to its objectives, including the revitalisation of the rural communities, decentralisation of the economy, and addressing the country’s triple challenges using indigenous knowledge. Lastly and importantly, make sure that the SMART village becomes the driver of the District Development Model.
