Minister Nzimande to address the 16th GovTech conference in Durban, 8 September 2025

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Blade Nzimande, will address South Africa’s most influential Information and Communications Technology (ICT) conference dedicated to transforming public service delivery through innovation, GovTech 2025.

After a one-year pause in 2024, GovTech is back— stronger and more focused than ever on leveraging technology to improve the lives of citizens.

Building on South Africa’s legacy of hosting the ITU World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly in 2018, GovTech reaffirms the country’s role as a leader in African digital transformation.

As a cornerstone of South Africa’s digital transformation agenda, GovTech has served for nearly two decades as a vital platform for collaboration between government, industry, innovators, SMMEs, and startups.

This year’s theme— “One Data, One Citizen, One Citizen Service Journey – Digital Transformation,” places the spotlight on the importance of data driven service delivery changing how citizens should experience government as a single, coherent entity rather than a collection of disconnected departments.

Minister Nzimande’s address will outline the DSTI’s vision for science, technology, and innovation in accelerating inclusive digital governance.

The conference will also spotlight homegrown talent, showcasing innovations from South African startups and youth-led tech initiatives, with opportunities for funding and collaboration with global tech companies.

The media is invited as follows:
