Christmas will come early for the elderly community in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday, 14 December, when the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ms Nomalungelo Gina, hosts a Christmas party there.
This annual initiative forms part of the Deputy Minister's ongoing efforts to engage and uplift vulnerable communities in the region. The heartfelt celebration recognises the invaluable contributions of senior citizens in society and aims to bring them warmth during the holiday season.
"The elderly have been key players in the democratic struggle, with many having actively contributed to the anti-apartheid movement. As South Africa celebrates 30 years of democracy, this is a moment to thank them for their sacrifices and acknowledge their continued participation in civic and political life," said the Deputy Minister.
