The DSTI and ENRICH in Africa Center to host European Commission Director-General of Research and Innovation

Innovators and business support organisations will have an opportunity to engage with the European Commission's Director-General for Research and Innovation, Mr Marc Lemaître, on 25 November at the ENRICH in Africa (EiA) Center in Cape Town.

The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) is collaborating with the EiA in hosting Mr Lemaître on his first visit to Africa. The visit represents the EU's commitment to advancing innovation and economic development across the continent through collaborative research, innovation and knowledge-sharing, in alignment with Africa's Agenda 2063 and the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.

The Director-General will meet high-level stakeholders across Africa's tech and innovation sectors, including government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors to discuss deepening EU-Africa partnerships in research and innovation. The DSTI's Deputy Director-General for International Cooperation and Resources, Mr Daan du Toit, and other officials from the DSTI will also participate in the event.

The EiA is a flagship EU initiative that bridges the tech and innovation ecosystems across Africa and Europe, as well as fosters connections among startups, investors, incubators, accelerators, policymakers and researchers.
