The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr Blade Nzimande, will be honouring excellent Huawei ICT Academy and ICT Academy instructors who participated in the 2022 training for their outstanding contributions to ICT talent development.
Huawei has been investing constantly in ICT talent development to assist South Africa in digital journey.
The Huawei ICT Academy program is one of the initiatives with which Huawei cooperates with universities and colleges to train, develop and certify the ICT talent across South Africa.
So far, through the DHET-Huawei collaboration, seventy-two (72) academies have been established at universities and colleges, and over 5,000 students have participated in Huawei certification ICT training.
The collaboration between government, academia and ICT industry is a good supplementary to tackle digital challenges.
Therefore, going forward, the collaboration between DHET-Huawei will be strengthened through the implementation of more ICT talent development programmes.
During the award ceremony, Minister Nzimande will be joined by Huawei SA leadership, more than 40 participants from different universities, TVET colleges as well as the South African Public Colleges Organisation (SAPCO).
