The Department of Science and Innovation is hosting the first Long-Term Joint European Union-African Union Research and Innovation Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE) Stakeholder Engagement Forum on 3 to 6 October 2022 at the Protea Hotel Fire and Ice, Menlyn. The format is hybrid, so stakeholders can also participate online.
LEAP-RE is a five-year programme (2020-2025) under which 83 partners in Africa and Europe will seek to jointly address key renewable energy challenges, strategies and mechanisms. The intention is to build a long-term platform that will support collaborative research in renewable energy and the development of related innovations.
The LEAP-RE Stakeholder Forum is an event organised to enrich the LEAP-RE community working in renewable energy, science-based policymaking, funding and research, innovation, and monitoring, evaluation and learning in Africa and Europe.
LEAP-RE represents a major contribution to the implementation of the AU-EU Research and Innovation Partnership on Climate Change and Sustainable Energy (CCSE), and its Roadmap for a jointly funded AU-EU Research and Innovation Partnership on CCSE, adopted by the EU-AU High-Level Policy Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation.
