Background
ASTROLAB is a training programme that aims at fully developing and implementing a research tutorial at universities in need of astronomy infrastructure and curriculum, allowing undergraduate students in sciences to perform real-time observations on remote telescopes, and transforming those observations into a scientific result.
The Astrolab workshops have been running since 2016. The first was hosted by the Copperbelt, University in Zambia, followed by the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe in 2017, the University of Zululand in 2018 and the University of Venda in 2019. The 2022 edition was planned for Sol Plaatje which needed to be moved to September 2023 to allow for adequate preparation and consolidation of funding.
