Background

The BIO Africa Convention is modelled on the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) USA Convention, which is held annually in June in selected states within the United States of America (USA) and brings together researchers, innovators, inventors, businesses, and policymakers from around the globe.

The BIO Africa Convention is aligned with the National Bio-economy Strategy (2013) in that it promotes networking, marketing, and promoting critical factors in further developing the innovation system associated with bio-innovation. Furthermore, the strategy also identifies “Effective communication and marketing” as one of the enablers of the Bioeconomy. This includes “the participation in, or hosting of, international conferences and other relevant forums.
