Background

South Africa is a member of BIO and has been participating in the conference and exhibition event of the BIO, based in the USA, since 2012.  Successful start-ups which had been supported by the Biotechnology Regional Innovation Centres (BRICs) are given the opportunity of promoting their products as part of the South African exhibition stand.

The DSI has been leading the South African delegation at BIO Conventions. The BIO International Convention attracts more than 15 000 biotechnology and pharma leaders who come together for intensive networking to discover new opportunities and promising partnerships. The BIO brings together a wide spectrum of life science and application, including drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, biofuels, nanotechnology, and cell therapy.
