Background

The World Bank and the Departments of Science and Innovation (DSI), and Small Business Development are collaborating on a digital solution to assist youth-led innovation start-ups to access finance, markets and business support services, among others. The Innovation Bridge Start-Up Community will target entrepreneurs and innovators in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, eSwatini and Lesotho. The DSI entity, the CSIR will be implementing the project. The digital platform will be unveiled on 17 May 2022 at a hybrid event showcasing 14 start-up entrepreneurs, who will participate in a pitching session. The pitching event will provide the entrepreneurs with opportunities to connect with public and private investors, as well as other stakeholders within the innovation ecosystem
