Background and objective of event:
The Geospatial World Forum (GWF) 2026 serves as a pivotal global initiative, bringing together policymakers, space and geospatial agencies, industry leaders, and researchers to discuss the significance of geospatial information in governance, economic development, and societal resilience. Under the theme "Sovereignty, Economy & Society," the forum explores the evolving concept of sovereignty in the digital age, which now encompasses not only territorial integrity but also data management, infrastructure, and digital autonomy. Furthermore, it investigates the impacts of geospatial intelligence on data-driven economies across various sectors, including geospatial knowledge infrastructure, digital supply chains, the built environment, agriculture, defence, and utilities. On a societal level, the Forum emphasises the role of geospatial infrastructure in fostering informed decision-making, empowering communities, and ensuring equitable access to public services, with applications in climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, land governance, health, and urban planning.
