The department will be hosting the 11th BRICS ministerial meeting on Science, Technology, and Innovation under the theme "BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism."

The meeting will be preceded by the BRICS Young Scientist Forum (YSF) and the BRICS Young Innovator Prize (YIP) from 31 July to 4 August 2023. These sessions, respectively, will bring together approximately 200 young scientists (Masters and PhD holders under the age of 40 from the BRICS countries to enable networking among BRICS young scientists and thus foster long-term cooperation. The YIP will be hosted as part of the BRICS YSF in the same week with the aim of rewarding innovations with significant societal benefits, proposed by young innovators younger than 40 years.
